Two Great Classes

by Robert J. » Mon Jun 25, 2007 4:45 pm

We taught two really great classes last night and the night before. Saturday's class was Indian food. Here is the menu:

Saffron Milk

Palak Paneer

Dal Makhani and Zafarani Biryani

Chicken Masala

Halwa

Edit: We also made Garam Masala.

Last night (Sunday) was Syrian food with Chris Hanna from Hanna Vineyards. We did a tasting of her Sauv Blanc, Chard, and Cab Sauv. Christine Hanna is of Syrian descent and the menu was planned accordingly:

Pita (homemade)

Red Pepper and Walnut dip with Fennel Spears

Roasted Eggplant Salad with Tomatoes, Arugula and Feta

Lamb Shawarma

Semolina Cake with Figs and Chocolate.

Look for the recipes as I get them up. The Saffron Milk was one of the most refreshing drinks. It was just delicious. And the Halwa was a nice dessert. I have been snacking on it since Saturday.

The homemade pita was easy and the best I have ever had. Also, the Semolina Cake was very nice. We seved it with Rosewater Ice Cream and it was yummy!!

The saffron milk RC looks great! Would you have a recipe for the semolina cake with figs and chocolate as well? That sounds excellent and we're just heading into fig season...

Yes Mike, I do have the recipe but not on hand. I'll post it in a day or two. It was good.

Did you make the halwah? If so, how about a recipe?

I'll post it under a RCP thread right now.
