I have a great apple pie recipe that you tuck into a paper grocery bag, staple and bake. I've also heard of people cooking turkeys in them. Last night I went to microwave four ears of fresh corn, which I usually wrap in waxed paper, but since I was out of it, I shucked them and put them back into the sack they came in and microwaved them in that.
The thought occured to me that when the apple pie recipe was developed, it was probably in an era before paper recycling. I wonder what chemicals are going into foods that are cooked in paper bags now. Anyone have any thoughts on this?
