Bo's BBQ To The Rescue!!

by Gary Barlettano » Sat May 26, 2007 1:30 am

This past couple of weeks have been fraught with the kind of existential setbacks well suited to bringing the manic depressive out in a glass-half-empty character as I. Tonight, however, Zari wanted to treat her sister, brother-in-law, sons and associated girlfriends to dinner. I suggested Bo's BBQ in Lafayette, CA.

Well, some kind of snafu or the other caused us not to be served. When, after a 20 minute wait, this was noticed, we got the royal treatment. It goes without saying that the BBQ there is the best in the East Bay. But, to top things off, Bo noticed our plight and provided us with not one, but two bottles of Marietta Cellars Old Vine #43 which was a great accompaniment for our brisket, chicken, and ribs. We moved outside after our meal and enjoyed the good vibes of the Black Diamond Band, a local blues consortium. Even the otherwise restrained Habib was dancing on Mt. Diablo Blvd.

Bo gets it. Go there and feel the love!!

Oh, yeah, man. They are located right across the street from a not too shabby wine shop called "Wine Thieves" whence they obtain an ever-changing selection of really nice wines which would make most other restaurants blush. There's no wine list. All the bottles are stood up on the counter for your perusal as you order. You grab what you want and take it to the table. And they also have a cooler full of American microbrews and imports as well ... no Bud, no Miller, no Old Milwaukee.
And now what?

Oh! the poor suffering masses.
Chico - Hey! This Bottle is empty!
Groucho - That's because it's dry Champagne.
