Red apricots!

by Jenise » Fri May 25, 2007 3:35 pm

Those geniuses in the greenhouses have been messing around with our fruit again, and this combination's a winner. Really just another form of 'pluot', but called Red Apricot by the market I purchased them at, this one is a hybrid of those really small red plums and apricot, and the result has a not-furry but powder soft uniformly red skin with dark yellow flesh that's denser than your standard plum, but juicier than most apricots. Absolutely fabulous. I bought a bag of about 16 to share with a fellow apricot-fanatic, but I who had not had lunch and am weak for stone fruit couldn't keep my paws off them, and only three survived the trip back from town. In fact, I had to drive those three to her house and leave them in her mailbox, or there'd have been none.

I've had pluots of all colors and sizes, but this is the best yet.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov
