This has got to be one of the top 5 loaves of bread I have ever had. It brings back my childhood memories of my grandmother's bread, the reason I longed to learn to bake my own. The taste and texture and aroma are all so perfect!
The crust has just enough resistance on the outside, then gives way to a softer, intensely flavored flaky interior crust. The crumb is ever so slightly chewy and springy, but somehow still beautifully delicate and light.
