Tucci on Food

by Bill Spohn » Mon Jan 06, 2025 2:45 pm

I always enjoy Stanley Tucci's acting and writing and so I picked up a recent book, "What I Ate in One Year' to read. It documents all of his other activities over the year like a diary so is interesting from that point of view, but he also indicates what food and wine his family had each day.(much of it Italian), and it turned out to be considerably more interesting than I had thought. Worth a look for anyone interested in either his acting or food and wine activities.

His Searching for Italy was very good and he has a new series :"Tucci - The Heart of Italy" sounds like it will be interesting as well.

I thought people use Instagram to tell the world what they're eating.

Tucci is pretty heavy on IG, along with this pretty funny parody account impersonating Tucci's IG: https://www.instagram.com/themattfriend ... NRz/?hl=en

I just deleted my Facebook and instagram accounts permanently since they announced fact checking is no longer important and they are totally comfortable subverting 250 years of informed democracy….as much as I enjoyed instagram surfing, I cannot be complicit in helping them make money while they destroy everything around me

I agree that Facebook sucks (I never joined) and the fact checking decision was pathetic. But let's not get crazy with the claims of 250 years of informed democracy! Rumor, ignorance and wild belief in conspiracy theories has always been a central element of humanity, and the media. The three network era of consensus had some fact-checking benefits, but it also had downsides and regardless was an anomaly.

That is a very fair point…..there has been misinformation and partisan bias from day 1 in many forms. I guess maybe the ubiquity and speed of this era is a little scarier but I accept your core point that the basic principles are not new news
