I am out of this and need to buy more. What is your very favorite brand...there are many and my experience is limited. Thanks!

Currently Haechandle in fridge, but not like we have done extensive side by side experiments. Maybe we should!

Not helpful but I buy from the Lani's Farm stand at the Union Square Market in Nyc. They make their own, no additives or preservatives. Delicious!

Dale, if you're ever in Manhattan on an afternoon, you should check it out. Haechandle is in the stores and maybe I should try it, but first ingredients are wheat flour, corn syrup and water, which put me off.

Is it called Korean Chili Paste that Lani's sells?
This is the one I have purchased and it is decent. https://www.amazon.com/Premium-Gochujan ... a_s_1_pr_i

Yes, I think Korean Chili Paste is just the English term people use for those who might get confused by Gochujang.

The first time I bought gochujang, I was at an H Mart. I was floored by the whole aisle full of this stuff so I waited until a Korean-looking lady came along and asked her for a recommendation for a top quality product. Her answer: "I have no ideal. We just buy whatever's cheapest."

So I bought the most expensive, but honestly it wasn't that much more than the others and like Dale, I have little to compare it to.

I was actually wrong, glanced in back of fridge and saw a Haechandle container, but it's Haechandle Doenjang. Our current goghujang is OFood. I looked because I was surprised when Rahsaan said wheat flour, I usually just buy the red tub gochujang like the Korean grandmothers but was told to always make sure rice based. Although I think I have bought Haechandle before, but I think they have different lines. The OFood uses tapioca syrup as the sweetener.
I've enjoyed some artisanal ones before, but actually like the texture of the red tub brands.
