Too Tight? Toulouse?

by Bill Spohn » Thu Aug 22, 2024 2:53 pm

I wondered if people knew that Toulouse-Lautrec wrote a cookbook? (Just been watching Moulin Rouge - not the rather vapid modern film with Nicole Kidman but the original excellent version with Jose Ferrer as Lautrec from 1952) Doing some background studying before watching I came across the cookbook.

It is entitled The Art of Cuisine and is available in translation. Has anyone read it and if so, is it interesting/useful, or merely a curiosity?

Lautrec is reputed to have said "Marriage is like a dull meal with the dessert at the beginning"

Interesting to learn about but have never heard of it before.
