I recently interviewed someone for a job…. Super smart and engaging person. They had grown up in an extremely cloistered Syrian Jewish neighborhood in Brooklyn. Going to Manhattan was like going California for most Brooklynites from this neighborhood.
Anyway even though I work in financial type stuff many of my interviews traverse food or travel as I ask questions off of the resume. This person described growing up in Brooklyn and especially the micro local Syrian Jewish food (“my mom’s cooking”)
The recommended definitive cookbook is below…. I am poring through it now… this book is expensive but I think massively worth it … FWIW
