I like dill and often use it, but one thing gives me pause for thought.

It normally comes two ways, either the seeds or the dried foliage. They label the former 'dill seeds' but they label the latter 'dill weed' Who ever decided that calling something a weed was a positive marketing ploy....? Was 'dill leaves' taken?

Well, I've never seen or heard anyone talk about dill leaves - it's always fronds. So, while "weed" definitely sounds like a second-best alternative, what else could you use?

I've grown dill. I also grow other herbs. Dill, like most of them, is basically a weed that has tasty leaves. They seem to do best if I basically ignore them.

One of the things that struck me on my first visit to Provence was seeing plants such as thyme, oregano, and lavender growing as wild weeds. Just about everything grows wild somewhere.. It was also amusing to find about half a dozen wild escargot snails clustered under a park bench in Burgundy, hiding from the sun.
