Hi, I have grown it before, it is beautiful in salads, in white bean salads, as a garnish on toasted bread topped with roasted tomatoes and purple basil. Here is a fun read on it. http://www.farmgirlfare.com/2008/06/pur ... -bean.html
I've never even seen ruffled purple basil, but neither have I met a basil that wasn't interesting--in some fashion--in a dressing or in a caprese, which I wouldn't consider a mere garnish.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov
