New Mexican food in NYC

Larry, in case you ever come to NYC: https://stories.zagat.com/posts/eric-se ... o-new-york

Ursula is about an hour's walk from my house, half an hour by bus/train. Wonder whether takeout would arrive in good condition?

Loved Eric's story. This part especially: "And they kept pressuring me to make breakfast burritos. It’s a staple in New Mexico—it’s our bagel. And I was like, no, it doesn’t make sense at a place called the Awkward Scone, I don’t feel like explaining it to people. Because in New Mexico, it could be called New Life Tabernacle and you sell breakfast burritos, or King Wok and you sell breakfast burritos. Everybody sells breakfast burritos."

It's 10:05 a.m. Pacific Time, and now I want a Breakfast Burrito.

Interesting. I'm prejudiced, but I think NM cuisine is the best of the southwestern cuisines (e.g., Tex-Mex, AZ, Californian, etc.). IMO, it's the most authentic. And breakfast burritos are everywhere here in Albuquerque. Several restaurants have fantastic ones. One restaurant has a 1/4 mile line zig-zagging and blocking the right lane of a major street on certain days and times.

An easy snack here is to roll up a flour tortilla with green chile and cheese and zap it. And diced onions, if you want.

Years ago (okay, back in the '70s), we had an authentic New Mexican restaurant here, and I liked it very, very much. Sadly, after a few wonderful years, customer pressure moved them gradually and eventually entirely toward more familiar Tex-Mex. It was still good, but it was never the same.

Larry, I agree with that. NM is the best.
