Wow, Floyd Cordoz dies

by Jenise » Wed Mar 25, 2020 5:28 pm

Not being a New Yorker, I didn't know of Floyd before he appeared as a contestant on Top Chef Masters, I think it was. His food was some of the most intriguing of that series, and I was flat-out impressed with everything he did while being unable to quite remember who else was even on the show that season. I have a little list here of restaurants to go to in New York, if I ever get there, his Bombay Canteen is on it. Or, was.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov

Cause of death: corona virus.

I ate at Tabla but was not impressed. The Indian spices seemed gratuitously grafted-on.

However, his casual eatery downstairs, Bread Bar, was wonderful.

I quite enjoyed my one meal at Tabla:
soft-shelled crab with a daikon/jicama salad, topped with a garlic and Indian spice vinaigrette
samosas
cold watermelon soup
lamb "confit" two ways (one in a spiced crust, the other hunk with tandoori seasoning, all over a bed of roasted eggplant w/pine nuts),

And liked North End Grill when he was there.
Sad, he seemed like an interesting guy
