New Question!

I think I've got one that we have not discussed before!: It's still useful, you've had it forever, but shabby does not begin to describe it now... What is the most decrepit piece of equipment in your kitchen?

This bowl. One of a set. I have the lid, too.

I'm sure I could find a few more terrible examples, but right here on my desk is my favorite coffee mug, a hefty sunny orange model that I'm not about to discard just because a nasty chip got knocked out of it somewhere along the way.

The oldest item I have is this bread board

It was a wedding present from my aunt and it has been used every day for almost 50 years.

Although it's worn, and the knife holder is broken, the knife is still sharp and does a better job than more recent breadknives that have come as part of knife sets. It is of great sentimental worth and will not be replaced until absolutely necessary.

EDIT - After posting this I remembered that the knife is NOT the original. That had a matching wooden handle. This knife did come from a Richardson Sheffield 'Laser' set given me by my son as a present years ago. The laser range is designed to never need sharpening - and they haven't.

Jeff, you win! I have nothing that could compete with that bowl. The closest I have to decrepit (I am quick to toss and replace anything I find fault with) is a slotted spoon and spatula, part of a set my mother had of which I still have about four pieces, that probably dates back to the 40's. I have used the same spatulas my entire life. The bakelite handles are brittle now and have chipped and cracked but are still in one piece thanks to Bob and a can of Bondo.

Other than me, probably some knives that go as far back as the 1930s. Finally passed on my 1950s Hamilton Beach mixer and updated that, but still have some bowls that old, and I use an antique spoon rest from the 1880s And a small clutch of 1950s wonder tools (vegetable spiralizers etc.) that I rarely use but can't bring myself to throw away.
