So my gardener (sounds grand put that way lol) was emptying the “ready”compost Bay and found two vegetable peelers and a dessert spoon! :o

My bamboo-handle 8-person flatware set is down to 5 tablespoons. I have no idea where they went.

I'm convinced that there's a wormhole in space through which kitchen utensils and flatware escape. Someday we'll discover the Lost Utensil Planet.

Not long ago I did a count of my 16 place servings, purchased around 12 years ago. I recall that at the time, there were only all 16 of one item. Others varied down to 12. It's probably worse now. I blame it on all the dinner parties where certain nice people insist on helping and scrape the bones (plus unwitting utensils) off plates into the trash. We, of course, wouldn't do that. No, no.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov

When you find it, I predict there will be socks there, too. Lots of unmatched socks.

I AM the gardener (just call me Mellors, Milady...) as well as the chef, so would be responsible for any discarded utensils. In fact since one helpful twit stuck my high carbon steel Sabatiers in the dishwasher behind my back, I usually keep a wary eye on any clean up help.

I may have to start frisking the guests as they leave after dinner, if I note any flatware shortfalls.....

I am undoubtedly responsible for these items ending in the compost, being chief cook and bottlewasher.
However there is a lot to be said for the wormhole theory!
