UK debut Chick-fil-a to close

by Peter May » Mon Oct 21, 2019 10:09 am

My only experience of Chick-fil-A is that it was one of only 5 food outlets at Tampa FLA airport landside, and I got from them a chicken burger, rather nice salad and some curvy fries which I had in my hotel room with a bottle of Beyerskloof Pinotage I found in my luggage.

I couldn't understand why it was closed on a Sunday when I returned a few days later ..

So I was interested that the chain had their eyes on the UK market, opening their first place last week.

Well, apparently they are giving up on the UK and going to close their debut restaurant.

They opened one on the college campus in my liberal town, and it too closed. For political reasons, I avoided it and to this day have never tried what they do.

Chick-Fil-A are bad people. I won't cross their threshold, never mind give them money.

Lucky eh? :) There were no wine shops landside in the airport.

There's a different take on this story in today's Guardian: it says thelandlord of the shopping mall announced they would not extend Chick-fil-a's 6-month lease.

No loss. Plenty of nice people sell good chicken.
