Aus food in NYC

by Matilda L » Fri Aug 16, 2019 1:07 am

A friend drew my attention to this article today. Nice to think New Yorkers are getting access to smashed avocadoes and flat whites :).

I can't access the link, they won't let me 'cos I'm in the EU.

But I though 'flat white' was a NZ invention?

thanks for link.
I've not tried any of those- maybe Jeff has?
Of course there are about 25K restaurants in NYC.
I was looking for mention of the Musket Room, where I have eaten, but in retrospect that is NZ I believe.
We had avocado toast before Australian restaurants. :)

See if it will work if you delete all the cookie code from the URL and just go with this:

I've encountered it in Oz but not in NZ.

I can see the link.

I have not been to any Aussie restaurant lately. But I'd like to!

Musket Room... yikes!

I think the flat white has a lot of competition from local coffee culture.

Shouldn't an Aussie burger have a slice of beet on it?

Never had a flat white. Only have black coffee with nothing

BTB, the owner of a coffee company told me that the worlds largest purchaser of milk was Starbucks....

Sausage rolls

Australia’s answer to pigs in a blanket, this pastry delight features sausage meat wrapped in puff pastry.

Sounds like regular PIB to me, maybe except the puff pastry rather than the stodgier British approach. What sets them apart, Matilda? High 'koality'?

Some Aussie food I've had is quite good, others less so. My few attempts to enjoy emu were marred by over cooked meat with very little fat content. Not a big fan of crocodile, but kangaroo is pretty good.
