Recipe irritation

by Barb Downunder » Wed Jan 30, 2019 4:18 am

So needed a quick peanut sauce found this at epicurious.com
Fairly bland, meh, jazzed it up a bit.
BUT, the recipe said the yield was 2 cups, so thinking to halve it I looked at quantities
1 1" piece ginger, peeled
1 small garlic clove
1/2 cup creamy peanut butter (like Once Again or Jif)
2 tablespoons reduced-sodium soy sauce
1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
1 teaspoon (packed) light brown sugar
1/4 -1/2 teaspoons crushed red pepper flakes

Yield 2 Cups. Seriously?no way Jose. Even with 1/3 cup water in the body of the text the yield was one cup.
No point in commenting on the site as several others have already noted the same thing.
I know it is a huge database but I do wonder...how many more... then again life is to Short to sweat. The small stuff.

As an aside I used a product new to me, which I came across recently dark roast peanut butter. Anyone else use this stuff.?

That can really be irritating, Barb! I enjoyed the humo(u)r lurking in your post, though.

Dark roast peanut butter? I haven't seen it yet, but I'm definitely interested. Is it an international brand, or Australian? Much sugar added? That's a big problem for me with US peanut butter in general.

A typo, maybe? A 1/2 cup yield makes sense.
