Hmmmm... Champagne with a McGriddle? And, of course, a nice Canadian Ice Wine with the fried apple pie. 8)

Gee, does that mean that the products from wineries like MacLean and MacRostie aren't on sale at McDonald's? Boy, was I ever fooled!
And now what?

As if I'd ever eat anything there without alcohol? Whatta ya expect me to wash that stuff down with....a watery coke?

On second thought....maybe a couple shots of tequila might be a better choice. Before the wine anyway.

Great link, Hoke, thanks. But that's McDonald's Illinois policy:

Which is how I ended up calling McDonald’s corporate headquarters in Illinois and inquiring about their BYOB policy.

As in, "Can I bring a bottle of booze into my neighborhood McDonald’s?"

This seemingly simple question resulted in five days worth of waiting, callbacks, and the use of McDonald’s outside PR firm.

In the end, the PR firm -- Philadelphia’s Tierney Communications -- gave me a quote attributed to Melanie Fitzgerald, the marketing supervisor for McDonald’s: "Our general policy is not to allow it."

In Joisey folks at McDonalds pretty much ignore me once I'm past the checkout counter. No need to even ask permission -- just pop open your Petrus and dig into a Big Mac. :)

Thanks for the link.

I think I'd bring that Joisy favorite: Champale--the poor man's champagne.

Regarding the authors comment to not pair a white wine with heavily-ketchuped French Fries: I thought everyone knew the correct wine for that food combo is Chianti.

Or maybe I'm confusing fries with liver and fava beans.
Cheers!

I know of some wines that would be fine poured over their McSalads...

In all seriousness, one of the best wine-food matches I've ever found was aged white Hermitage with onion rings. Preferably the ones from Mustards Grill... In any event, I can't eat Mickey D's fries, so someone else will have to try that pairing and report.

Was it because the wine cost so much you had to eat onion rings with it--and like it???

Nah, BYOB. I don't think they'd stoop to having a Hermitage on their list.
