Non alcohol beverages to serve with cheese?

by Barb Downunder » Sat Nov 25, 2017 4:38 am

Hoping to catch up with a fellow curd nerd after Christmas and looking for non alcoholic bevies for one of the peripheral hoi polloi. Also any great accompaniments I could offer with the cheeses. There will be Brie, Camembert, cheddar, atm least one blue and I don’t know yet what is maturing at the other nerds place.

Non-alcoholic cider or sparkling cider? Sparkling water? Iced tea? Tart cherry juice or cranberry juice? I'd say any drink with a little acidity and subtle but interesting flavor should work with assorted cheeses, Barb.

Toasted nuts, grapes, honey, most of the staple sides are good, no?

i like almost any chutney or mostarda but light on the mustard. Black garlic thinned with a little olive oil. Membrillo is always good with sheep or goats milk cheeses.
These are what comes to mind for now

Thanks Robin, I particularly like the tart fruit juice idea, topped up with with sparkling water, slice of lime.
You Americans and your iced teas, must be something in it, the US of A would grainy to a halt without it.
