Very interesting 'Food Programme' on Sunday about American chef Dan Barber, how his 'farm to table' philosophy takes everythig from the farm, not just certain crops but also the others that are grown inbetween to restore soil fertility.
Also, for me, fascinating, how a passing conversation with a plant breeder who said he'd never ever been asked to breed a food plant for flavour resulted in him producing a new type of butternut squash named Honeynut - said to be widely available in USA supermarkets.
That edition of The Food Programme can be listened to and downloaded from

The story of Honeynut comes 13 minutes into the recording
