Gjelina: Cooking from Venice, California

by Bill Spohn » Tue Mar 29, 2016 1:05 pm

Borrowed this one from the library. Always interested in all sorts of cuisine including US West Coast.

Can't recommend it. Many of the pictured dishes were charred needlessly and unappetizing (although I'm sure that it accurately depicts what they produce there - the question is why!)

If you think you are interested in buying this one, see if you can borrow it first!

Thanks for the warning. Btw, if you look at the book list suggested by Amazon based on one's interest in Gjelina, you'll see a book called Hardwood. Bob got me that for Xmas--unasked and unheard of by me, but it appealed to him. It looks like it's kind of along the same lines--a preponderance of emphasis on charred flavors. That may be a new trend.

Got around to looking up Hardwood on Amazon. Got a page of gay 'romance' material!

Had to dig deeper to find a culinary version. Not sure I did - send a url if you have one.
