Actually, I would have said walnuts, because they're standard, and I think nuts improve choco-chip cookies. But the other day Mary was making a batch and mentioned the pecan option. It sounded good, so we tried it, and I think they're better. Pecans and brown sugar have a natural affinity, and together they kicked the cookies up a notch. (I don't find pecans any "sweeter" than walnuts, personally, and wouldn't really have defined either as a sweet taste, but that's just me.)
