...to pick up a gift 14.9 lb tuna direct from the fisherwoman.

I am as flummoxed as I am excited about what I'm going to do with 15 lbs of tuna.

If it's a whole fish, I expect you'll start with gutting, scaling....

My pal Nilo has a friend who's a fisherman who will bring him a whole tuna every now and then. Nilo cans it, and it's by far the best canned tuna I've ever had.

I had never really heard of it but apparently smoked tuna is a thing. Maybe I'm the only one who didn't know that...

Mike, a friend once gave me a jar of their home-canned tuna--best I ever had, too. Would love to have done something like that with Charlie but I just didn't have the time to deal with it. This one, I broke down while still half frozen and then re-froze the loins in serviceable pieces. Only ended up with about 6 lbs of fish. That was a surprise!

Fred, smoked tuna is fantastic. When I was a kid there was a place on the docks down in Long Beach where they smoked fish, lots of it. All different kinds. There were tables and tables of it in an outdoor tent. I went there once with my father, and many times he'd bring home fish from there when his business took him into the area. Tuna was one of my favorites. As a child, that was the only way I'd eat fish.
