No alcohol drink matches

by Barb Downunder » Fri Feb 05, 2016 3:51 am

I have the following menu and would like drink suggestions as our guests do not drink alcohol.
Smoked salmon ap with dill cream cheese etc
Crisp skin salmon on minted pea purée
Portuguese custard tarts, fresh fruit, cheese.
I always have club soda, orange juice, tonic in the house but would like to do a bit better than that.
Any advice gratefully received

How about a mocktail that resembles sant'gria? Use a combination of iced tea and pomegranate juice instead of red wine, keep everything else the same.

Iced tea, brewed with orange peel.
Lemonade made with fresh lemons.
Sweet cider.

I couldn't have said it better myself! Especially the iced tea part, assuming good quality tea, lemon, and little or no sweetener. That's my standard recco for a red-wine replacer for those who don't want alcohol. The other two are good, too. :)

Thanks, very helpful. Iced tea never occurred to me probably because we are largely a nation of hot tea drinkers, a great idea, brewing now. And fresh lemonade doh! Like I have heaps of lemons just begging to be used.

When relatives who are Baptists (which doesn't allow its members to drink alcohol) come we get a bottle of Schloer sparkling apple or grape juice.

Thus they have their bottle on the table and we have ours. and we all have wine glasses.
