I use a powdered egg slurry as a glaze for bread. It produces a nice, golden brown color and I don't have to waste a real egg.

We always had real eggs at Mountain Home Air Farce Base in Idaho back in the day, Bob. But we quickly learned to order fried eggs, not scrambled, after noticing that the guys behind the food counter would break dozens of eggs into the scrambling batch at a time, and a non-trivial number of them went in green and were not discarded. If you ordered fried, you could call out, "Not <i>that</i> one," if necessary ...

MRE's used to have scrambled eggs as one of the dishes. Thankfully they don't anymore. Some of the old unit rations had powdered eggs but again, I don't think they do anymore.

Robin, I spent a year in Alaska at a place called Cape Newenham Air Force Station (AFS). we had one supply ship per year, and AFAIK we never had a fresh egg in the mess hall. After several months has passed since the ship offloaded, one never drank a beer from the can. One always poured into a glass, and it was not uncommon for there to be a green glop to fall out into the glass. Olympia beer, may I never have another. :)

I suppose I could. I could also use the Parmesan cheese in the little containers that come with pizzas and call it a McFrugal omelet.
