Speaking of gravy separators.....

by Christina Georgina » Tue Nov 03, 2015 10:45 pm

I assume that this is a device to separate fat from other liquid pan drippings. I gave up on mine and find that pouring the pan juices into a glass measuring cup and then using a bulb baster to draw off the bottom liquids into another container works far better that the Catamount separator I was given as a gift. You can totally and cleanly separate the two layers. Using a glass measuring cup allows you to tilt and get every last drop out with the benefit of measuring exactly how much fat remains to better judge the flour needed for roux.
Will check the SurLaTable catalog anyway. Thanks for the coupon

That's what I ordered! Liked too, and have other uses for, that strainer on top, which my last one didn't have.

My Cuisipro arrived from Sur Le Table last Friday. It will come in handy while preparing Thanksgiving dinner.

Have yet to use mine, but my new popover pan was put into service last night. FANTASTIC. So much better than a muffin tin.

Is anyone among those who own it up for running an experiment using it to clarify butter?
