What I had for dinner last night

by Jenise » Fri Aug 28, 2015 4:25 pm

Ate at my favorite restaurant, The Willows, again last night:

Crisp dried kale with black truffles
Smoked black cod donut
crispy crepe filled with char roe and chard
grilled shitake mushrooms
pickled fresh oysters
crispy fried halibut skin stuffed with clams
fresh apple slices with oregano
cold broth from cooked zucchini branches
geoduck with cucumber seeds
salt cured beets with yoghurt
Dungeness crab with puree of pine nus
cured rockfish in chilled grilled bone broth
spot prawns on rye toast
heirloom wheat bread with chicken pan drippings
king salmon roasted with cherry tomatoes
lamb roasted with eggplant
blackberries with wild chamomile
anise and lavender ice cream
'pie' of flax seed, honeycomb and fresh marigolds

And we stayed over for breakfast:

Fresh made apple cider
Porridge with dried berries and walnuts
Green figs with tarragon and honey
Fresh sautéed kale with cider and breadcrumbs
house-made yoghurt with blackberries
charcuterie board of house-smoked white king salmon, Cascade cheese and culatello
Soft-boiled duck eggs
zucchini bread with goat cheese spread
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov

David, Dinner takes about three hours. We sat out on the deck an hour before dinner with a bottle of 02 Pommery Cuvee Louise, and dallied after dinner with the chef and a Sicilian white, so our evening actually spanned 5-6 hours.

Dale, two hours from Seattle, plus a ten minute ferry ride. From the ferry landing to the restaurant is about two miles.
