Sandwiches!

by David M. Bueker » Fri Dec 29, 2006 9:50 pm

Just finished a really cool meal with my folks. Instead of some big production, my Mon put out lots of great Boar's Head cold cuts, some good bread, caramelized onions and peppers and we made our own hot sandwiches. I did a chicken, onions, peppers and provolone (heated under the broiler) that was killer.

What did you drink with them? They sound delicious and easy.

When I was a kid, my folks would often put out platters of good cold cuts, bread, and condiments at their parties. Guests would custom-make their sandwiches. I always looked forward to those as there were usually enough leftovers for a couple of day's worth of lunches.

James, I grew up on a farm, and my Mom baked twice each and every week. we had what we called "light bread" which was a loaf of very dense white bread that probably weighed about 2.5lbs per loaf. What did we drink with sandwiches made with that bread? Cow Juice! that is what!
