Cook's Illustrated parody

by Mike Filigenzi » Thu Nov 20, 2014 10:24 am

Stuart Yaniger put this one up on Facebook and I had to copy it over here. Any of you who've subjected yourselves to Chris Kimball's columns in Cook's Illustrated will get a kick out of this.

Obviously a parody because if it were a real story out of an issue of CI he would have embellished his tale by saying when he was on his way home, out of the corner of his eye he spotted a squirrel but when he pulled the trigger on his .22 the gun jammed and he had to chase down the squirrel on foot across two counties but it was the best squirrel he had ever eaten when he finally caught the little bugger and not some typical rodent like one normally eats that is tough and chewy

Lawdy, lawdy, that's funny! And a piercingly accurate deconstruction of Kimball's style. Must steal!

(Also, yo, Dave R! Long time no see, and welcome back!)

Thank you, Robin. It appears you have been changing the oil every 3000 miles and keeping the WLDG running at peak performance. It is nice to see many of the familiar "faces" here once again.

Actually we don't use oil any more, Dave. Some guy came to the door offering a new invention that you use in place of oil, and it never wears out. He sold me stock in his company, too. I mean, really, what could go wrong?

Seriously, though, it's great to see you back, and glad a lot of the old members of the chorus (and lots of new ones, too) are still around to greet you. We kept your monogrammed wine glass safe, right over ... umm ... err ... oh, here!

Wow, that sounds like the same guy that came to my door offering me a new invention called the synthetic cork that was supposedly better than the screw cap bottle closure. Boy did I get hoodwinked!

Just to be clear, I don't think Stuart did the writing. He was just the first person to post the link.
