A 3.4 square mile mushroom?

Okay, fungi. But yes, it's in Oregon. Interesting article about how we've barely made a dent in identifying the mushrooms in the world.

Duxelles in Oregon!

Interesting the unknown porcini - and the variety of types. I have not been enamored of some of the dried Chinese porcini, not sure if issue is species or processing/quality contro;

Ditto, and have to admit, having travelled in China, I would lean toward the latter unless otherwise provided with a reason not to. As a society they don't seem to understand a need for it. They're a nation of copiers. If something LOOKS right, then it's right, whether or not it tastes the same or lasts as long as the original.

Is no one but me disturbed that a couple of unknown mushroom species, possibly with unknown toxins, was found in a bag of edible mushrooms?

It would be a heck of a way to 'discover' a new highly toxic species, wouldn't it?
