Mid-week dinner - What's on your table?

OK, it's mid week, and I needed to make dinner for one. What was it going to be? A recent re-post got my mouth watering for a Bacon, potato and cheese cake (gratin). I am making a mini version with one baking potato, some bacon and some cheddar cheese.

I'm wondering what's on your table tonight, be it for one or many?

A couple friends are coming over for homemade pizza and Ben & Jerry's ice cream. They'll probably have beer and I'll drink something red. At least until we switch to the single malt afterwards!

(Yes, it's been a truly tough couple weeks.....)

Probably going out tonight..mexican food, most likely...Xmas shopping calls. The crowds, the noise....why, its the Holidays...

I may become a hermit. Humbug.

No plans yet. So busy working on a big project that I haven't figured out what we're going to eat. That's not like me!

It's exactly like me, Jenise! I never know what I'm having until I start making it... unless I've invited someone over, then I plan!

I have corn tortillas, cheese and powdered red chile, pinto beans simmering on the stove and some leftover rice. Can you guess?

We had sauteed chicken breasts, sourdough bisquits, and salad; with lemon cheesecake for dessert. All homemade except the breasts. Some chicken grew those.

I'm wondering what's on your table tonight, be it for one or many?

We dined out tonight at Liang's Cafe, a nice new Chinese spot in the 'burbs. Rather than the customary "authentic" menu in Chinese tucked inside a Chinese-American menu, they have it all in one, but you can detect the authentic dishes because only they are listed in both English and Chinese. We enjoyed a Sichuan hacked chicken app, a West Chinese Muslim dish of chicken and onions in a very cumin-heavy light sauce (should have been lamb, the host admitted, but "suburbs too conservative for lamb." Damn suburbs. Also a really well-rendered version of Sichuan long beans with pork.

Russian Banana Potatoes with Butter and Parsely.
Mixed Greens and Herb Salad with Bleu Cheese and Lemon Vinaigrette.
Leftover Tuscan Red (see my WTN).
Nothing for dessert

My daughter's French class was having a supper at a crepe place. I ended up getting there about an hour late and eating my daughter's leftover scallop/shrimp crepe.

Came home and finished up making some persimmon ice cream. I'll report on that once I decide what I think of it.

Warmed up leftover rice, mixed into a bowl of steaming hot instant miso soup. Kimchi on the side. Just one of those days where I find myself with no energy left to cook...

Potstickers, made the usual way for me and just steamed for my kid.

Home fries seasoned with salt, pepper, sage, and onion and fried crisp in butter and olive oil. In the middle of the same pan, two inch and a half thick, boneless center cut pork chops similarly seasoned. On the side, some corn drenched in butter.

My kid wants to eat at your house.
