Boiling cabbage in the oven.....

by Peter May » Mon Jun 30, 2014 3:06 pm

My hob broke...for the second time and I'm not paying to repair it but have ordered a new one which is promised for Thursday... But what about tonights roast?

I boiled a kettle (electric) of water, poured it on chopped cabbage in saucepan, put lid on and stuck in oven for 25 minutes. Uncharted territory for me as I usually steam veggies on hob, but cabbage was good, with a little al dente.

I roasted carrots as other veg (which I'd normally steam), but give me back my hob.

That's certainly a way around the problem! And enjoy the al dente--that crunch means you're getting more vitamins!
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov
