A better, cheaper, Sous-Vide?

by Tom NJ » Mon Aug 12, 2013 2:55 pm

Has anyone else seen this?

If "the Director of Applied Research behind Modernist Cuisine" is behind it, I'm thinking it's not gonna be junk.

I'm in. Giggity giggity!

It does, doesn't it. Not that my current efforts *cough* look any less so. But I figure it would be nice to have one of them around, y'know, just to keep up with the Kool Kids. Not because I need a quality elevator or anything. Perish the thought.

But have you seen a better, cheaper chamber vacuum sealer?

D'oh! Stupid details.

Oh well. I guess I could use it as a foot bath warmer. Always wanted one of those....

Every time I see a Sous-Vide circulator, the price tag's been near $1,000! I have been waiting for something like this. Thanks for posting, Tom.

Tom, that's bloody brilliant. A friend of mine spent a small fortune on one you could bathe a baby in. Owning one more thing that large is as objectionable to me as the price (around $700). This one, no vessel, just heat device and propeller, makes perfect sense. Just sent a link to my hubby, since my bday is coming up soon.

Woo hoo! Atta girl: coerce the man!

Lol...if you get it, let me know what you think. Maybe I could sell a kidney and get the vacuum sealer

No coercion! Just something for his Suggestion Box. Most of my kitchen has been outfitted this way, like your colorful Creusets. :D
