Distributors who carry even a large variety of Italian products barely scratch the surface. But liveliness and spice are qualities that endear Italian wines to a lot of us. A blend of equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot - French-heritage grapes that originated in Bordeaux - and the Italian Montepulciano, grown in Puglia (a.k.a. Apulia), the "heel" of the Italian "boot," aged in oak and 14 percent alcohol. Sounds like bold, warm and spicy would be appropriate descriptors.
