God, I miss Northern Exposure

by Jenise » Thu Jul 19, 2012 11:57 am

Something about chopping tomatoes a bit ago caused me to remember hearing the character Adam rant on Northern Exposure about demi-glace. His description of it had me salivating, and it's what made me finally throw down the gauntlet to myself about making my own demi-glace, which I'd never done before. I didn't follow a recipe, I didn't need one: I made exactly what Adam described.

So I came back to my desk to search for a You Tube video of that to post here for all to enjoy. Alas, it was not to be found, boohoo. But I did enjoy a few other snippets, some food-related and some not.

Here's one of the latter:

Wow, that is quite the trebuchet. I have not seen one that large. I was just trying to remember the name of the show I watchend on TLC, a reality show about a family who did a community pumpkin patch every year and some throwing with their much smaller trebuchet. The mother and dad were little people, had three normal kids and one son, like them. Loved that show. The live near Newberg, OR

I have to admit we really enjoyed that show. I remember a great many young guys were really hot for Janine Turner, a real wholesome, cute, girl next store type. :D

Aw Jenise, I use to love that show. Recently saw Janine Turner as some sort of political pundit. Had to IMDB her to make sure it was the person we knew, and loved, as Maggie. Did you know she was once engaged to Alec Baldwin? Brought back found memories of that diverse cast to watch that clip.

Thank you!

I've got the entire series on DVD. Lot of memorable episodes and characters. Really pushed the envelope sometimes, which I loved. And Adam was quite a character in a show full of characters.

I saw that too, or at least saw her listed as someone trying to be a pundit--IIRC, the list included a few other WHA-ATT? kind of names. She is definitely no longer the girl next door, either! More Jayne Mansfield--big, fluffy platinum blond hair, heavy makeup and thick false eyelashes. She looks, and sounds, rather bizarre.
