I've been on Pinterest for quite a while. I seem to use it in fits and starts, though.

I just read about that site a few days ago. And after doing so, I didn't see myself using it for much. Seems to be about shopping, something I don't enjoy unless it's going on the dinner table!

I would have said it's more about design and photography and art - all of which can lead to shopping - but really it's pretty much Facebook/Twitter with pictures instead of posts. Or so it seems to me. I dipped in but haven't really embraced it.

Design, art? The article in Time magazine used the examples of nail polish, yarn/knitting needles, bridal dresses, and storage solutions. Suggested that the point is for one to find a picture of something you like and "pin" it to a topic-themed pinboard of your own creation. Basically making a poster about yourself, I guess, for others to view in this share-everything post-Facebook world. The issue for the site is that the popularity of that has outpaced its creators' ability to figure out how to make money off of it, so they're considering a finders fee for instance that would be collected when visitors buy products they find on the site. And now stores and manufacturers are pinning pix of their products there hoping to increase exposure and traffic.

None of which appeals to me as I have nothing to sell, and really nothing I want to share about myself beyond food and wine or learn about others outside that context. I even find it hard to feel spontaneous about Facebook postings.
