Happy Birthday Carrie L., and...

me.

Probably bad form but Carrie and I both seem to hang out mostly in the kitchen so I thought I would make a noise about it.

I'm hard at work, nothing special planned, hope Carrie has more going on than I do?

:D

Indeed! Happies to everyone who's got them coming, and it's perfectly okay to do a Kitchen greeting to Kitchen denizens. :)

Hey, Happy Birthday Frank and Carrie. Did you guys both cook your own birthday dinners?

Probably. This week has been so crazy, with 2 final exams, more than 200 students in each one, that I barely know what I am doing. TONIGHT is the big Hungarian dinner and we are supposed to leave in 15 minutes, but Louise's cheddar gougeres won't be ready for 30. No, not Hungarian I think, but FWIW the Jacques Pepin recipe does include paprika. Great stuff with Champagne.

I love gougeres (hhmmmm, insert Dale as Homer Simpson, substitute gougeres for doughnuts), but the Pepin version is a particular favorite.
Frank and Carrie, happy birthday! Frank, looking forward to how Hungarian dinner turns out.

Hello, hello! Thank you all for the nice birthday wishes! Sorry I've been MIA. Len took me to Vegas for my birthday for a few days, then I had to come back and finish getting ready for Christmas so haven't had time to lurk here. Frank, great to know I am in good company on the 20th from here on in. :)

We had great food in Vegas. Stayed at Encore on a package with a $250 (per day) dining credit so we ate at the two properties mostly. Highlights were: the Carpaccio at Sinatra (best we'd ever had), an open-faced shaved prime rib "French Dip" at The Country Club at Wynn after 18 holes there (THE most amazing white truffle potato chips went with it), and a Grilled Langostino Pasta at Bartolatta. We think that Vegas is definitley one of the best food cities in the U.S.

I love gougeres too! We are having a little New Years Eve dinner party. Those would be a great appetizer!

Happy Belated birthday Frank and Merry Christmas to everyone today!!!
Hello. My name is Carrie, and I...I....still like oaked Chardonnay. (Please don't judge.)
