Big fan of the food of piemonte and Emilia-Romagna.
If E-R wins on the food (those streets around Bologna are indeed very good), Piemonte wins by virtual walkover on the wines.
However for me, it's not about this is the best or that is instead. For me it's great to see such committed producers all over the country. Spending a bit of time on the outskirts of the city of Torino reminded me that even in the smallest suburb of a big city, there's usually someone selling true artisanal products and caring deeply about preserving the quality. Thankfully the Italians have quite a distrust of big food businesses and a pig-headed desire to eat well (and not to accept eating badly). The kids do seem to buck this trend to a degree, but I'm hopeful it will be so ingrained that the quality remains.
