As much as I like chocolate I don't like it mixed with another pronounced flavor, even peanut butter turns me off; and like them both separately.

I generally don't like things studding my chocolate, but chocolate with tiny bits of ginger is not the most offensive thing in the world. Better than nuts IMHO. Of course this flips the whole proportion around from what Bill had.

In the late 1990's I really developed a taste for this. Crystallized ginger covered with dark chocolate -- the milk chocolate does nothing for me but the clash of strong bright flavors of crystallized ginger and the bitter-sweet taste of serious chocolate just intrigued me. We have a chocolate factory in our small town, walking distance from my house, and I would stop and buy it there, freshly made. Pretty addictive. But I did eventually get over it, and have not bought it in years.

What I still buy mostly are their dark chocolate non-pareils. I can have three of those for an evening snack and because the chocolate is so rich that small amount is pretty darn satisfying. I also occasionally buy the dark chocolate almond bark but it's too hard to stop eating that stuff!!

I can't imagine chocolate covered ginger, or even chocolate with orange, which I dislike. Now the chocolate under the candy coating in Peanut M & M's is another story. That is awesome chocolate...anyone know what type it is?

I do like a Cadbury chocolate bar with caramel inside, and keep it in the refer for a treat now and then. :)

Not sure about ginger and chocolate, but it works with whiskey. I had a cocktail this evening that was equal parts bourbon and Domaine Canton ginger liqueur. Very delicious!

I like the taste of chocolate with ginger. Also chocolate with chiles.

Sure, chocolate and ginger I can handle and given the phase of the moon, I might even enjoy it. But, once I was offered chocolate and garlic ( in Gilroy, where else) and that was different.. :?

Well, here is the (candied) ginger in question:

http://www.biffar.com/index.php?hauptme ... ---------'

I probably wouldn't have minded it in a small dose. Ginger is best kept in the background IMO -and make it crunchy like it should be! This was just too chewy. The overwhelming ginger flavor clung to every tastebud and the assault lasted for minutes.

Yes, same Biffar as the winery (if anyone knows or cares.)

I love orange and chocolate together. It is an amazingly perfect combo for me.

I like it with chiles. I like it with salt. I like it with bacon. I probably like it with green eggs and ham.

And yes Julia, perhaps. But does refer and ginger go together?

Cheers,
Bill

Refer goes well with anything edible (and some things that normally aren't).
