The best coffee in Finland is... (Anders will be shocked)

...the Brutal Espresso of Robert's Coffee! :)

I've now tried the few shops which claim to sell specialist coffees and have tried their so called dark roasted coffees. Yet all of the dark roasted coffees seem to be just a tiny bit darker than the typical roast which is very, very light.

Considering that Finns drink more coffee per person than any other nation, why do so few people care about the taste of the coffee that businesses don't think it worthwhile to cater to the tastes of those of us who don't like thin, harshly acidic swill?

The Brutal Espresso is at least genuinely dark and is full bodied and has a bit of strength to it also. It's good. I also tasted palatable Harari coffee from Ethiopia which was aromatically very nice, but lacking a bit in mid-palate concentration (no matter how strong I made it).

Anders, isn't Robert's Coffee Swedish? Have you tried their Brutal? Are things bad here if that is the best available to us? Thank God for the internet. Now that I can drink coffee again, I'll order some from abroad.

I don't drink wine because of religious reasons ... only for other reasons.

No, not shocked at all...

No, Otto, I'm not really shocked. It's more like my prejudices about the standards of Finnish coffee have been confirmed...
[Anders, isn't Robert's Coffee Swedish?]

God forbid, no! It is Finnish!

In case you don't find anything on the internet (which you should) you could always take a cheap boat to Stockholm, where I could help you find better coffees, and teas of course.

Cheers, Anders
