Fresh fish

by Jenise » Thu Jul 28, 2011 2:31 pm

This guy got these two silver salmon last night about 150 feet from my house. That brings to five the number he's caught in the last three days.

That is so cool. I'd love to be able to catch "dinner" in my own yard.
Hello. My name is Carrie, and I...I....still like oaked Chardonnay. (Please don't judge.)

Isn't it? There's a jetty there to stand on while you fish, no boat needed. I'll be out there tonight at high tide. Another guy caught two early this morning, and I just learned from the friend who's here rigging my pole that the guy in the picture caught 21 here last year. I don't know this man's name, but we call him Jed Clampett. There are a number of regulars whom we recognize, and lacking for names we call the others NOT-Jed Clampett, The Insurance Agent, The Tough Guy and The Good Dad. :) Have no idea how well they do but the fact that they persist certainly says something.

You'd be set at my place. As long as you liked eating racoon and coyote......

That's funny, I was thinking the same thing when I typed that. We have coyotes and rattlesnakes in California and deer in NC. (I'm not fond of venison.)

Hey, get out there and become their new best friend. Fisherman love to share their stories and you will learn how to fish from that jetty in no time. I miss Humboldt Co. and fishing from the jetty! :(

Exactly what I plan to do! They'll be able to tell from my brand new pole that I'm no threat.

So last night we caught two bullfish (not edible, but saved them for crab bait), one six inch long salmon that we threw back of course, and a big purple starfish. :(

Unusual for the season but the Grouper fish are swarming to the ports of Jaffa and Tel Aviv and are easily accomodating to rod fishing. A good friend brought me two Groupers a short while ago. Those have been appropriately cleaned and filleted, are now chilling and tomorrow will find themselves in several plates of Spanish style carpaccio, some to be topped with a light wassabi, others with a cold cocktail sauce. As to wine - a Donnhoff Riesling yet to be selected from the cellar.

I saw a tee shirt once that had the following printed on it: God created fish to go with Riesling.
Chico - Hey! This Bottle is empty!
Groucho - That's because it's dry Champagne.
