Kuma coffee, ever heard if it

by Bob Henrick » Mon Jun 27, 2011 2:10 pm

I received an email today offering Kuma Coffee. The two on offer are 1 12 oz. bag of Guatemala whole-bean coffee, and 1 12 oz bag of Papua New Guinea whole-bean coffee. Kuma is a small Seattle coffee company that is family owned and run. The man and wife team buy, roast, and sell coffee beans from small producer in many different producing areas. The price in this offer is $19,99 for 2 12oz packs. One from Guatemala and one from Papua. I know nothing of coffees from either country, so if you do please advise. Anyway, I may just risk $20 and try them, regardless. Click the link below if you would like to read about Kuma.

Guatemala is pretty good. I don't think I've had New Guinea, but Flores, another island in Indonesia, grows some nice stuff. I have an excellent roaster just around the corner from me. He sells his for $11/lb. plus $4.95 for shipping. I also buy green beans from him for $5/lb. that I roast myself in my hot-air corn popper. His "Dark Night" blend is excellent. Here is a link: http://newdaycoffeeroasters.com/Order-Coffee/vmchk.html.

EDIT: I just noticed that the prices on the website are $10/lb., but he just raised them last month and probably hasn't updated the website. I don't know how much he sells online. I think most of his business is local restaurants and retail sales out of his shop and at local farmers markets.
Chico - Hey! This Bottle is empty!
Groucho - That's because it's dry Champagne.
