First BLT of the season!

by Robin Garr » Fri Jun 24, 2011 12:21 pm

Excellent! We don't normally get ripe tomatoes in our garden until the Fourth of July or a little after, but one of the farmers at our small neighborhood farmers' market had ripe, juicy heirlooms available this morning, and I know what we're having for lunch.

Well now, that is just wrong. You having a BLT, before us who live in sunny California, the land of tomatoes and everything else good to eat? Just wrong!
Enjoy!

Well we just had BLTs with vine ripe tomatoes yesterday. Oh, forgot to say, we brought them up from Georgia, arriving Wednesday night.

We're running 3-4 weeks behind, both weather and garden.

I had my first one Wednesday for lunch. At a burger place. That my co-workers and I went to because it was someone's birthday. I didn't want the giganto-burger they serve at this place so I went with their BLT. It was skinny, a bit soggy, and really pretty disappointing. It was only partially redeemed by some pretty high quality bacon. Next time, I'll know better.
