Stopping in to chat with Mr. Vella was always on a list of things to do on our biennial trips to Sonoma. We loved his sense of humor, frankness and obvious dedication to family, tradition and innovation. I am so sorry to hear this news.

Saddened to hear this. My wife and I stopped in to Vella during our trip to SOnoma in 1998. We thought we would be there just a few minutes. We were there for 2 hours. Ig was incredibly gracious and talkative.
