Somehow, my freezer is full of steaks, but no crabs.

I see hundreds of trucks going up and down I-5 on my trips into town. I have never seen a New Sound Transportation truck. Wonder what name might have been on the truck? When we pick up grandkids, we play a game with them looking for duplicate trucks, same name, same color. They really like the huge ones and seem to pay more attention to those. I look at all of them until my eyes give out. New Sound has never been one of them.

Frozen or fresh? My gang is instructed to take only fresh. They do taste better.
It's raining today screwed up my plans. Weird, rain in June and more forecast for the weekend. This weekend is the annual Napa Valley Wine Auction. If it rains for the big event Saturday it'll be the first time in it's history. :(

Pffft. King Crab ain't worth the effort to steal. Now, if it had been live blue claws...

Karen,
As a former Bay Area resident, I am with you 100% on Dungeness, but I must say that marrying into an East Coast family has opened my eyes to the deliciousness of the blue claw crabs of the Atlantic coast. On the down side, you need 6 or so to come close to having a meal (as opposed to half of one Dungeness), but they are on balance more flavorful than Dungeness. My wife makes the comparison of the body meat of the blue claw to the claw meat of the Dungeness. Myself, I love 'em all. King Crab, though, might as well be surimi in my book.

There's king crab and there's king crab. Fresh is amazing. And a lot of frozen can be quite good but I've had some that should never have been sold. But for pure crab flavor, much as I prize the Dungeness I pull out of the bay in front of my house every August, I don't think any are as good as the blue crab from the east coast.

Very reluctantly have to agree with Jenise about Blue Claw, only because it's true.

Hey, let a thousand crabs bloom, Lou. I love having both Dungeness and Blue Claw in my world, if only because both are wonderfully delicious and offer different attractions. Add to that Stone Crab claws and whatever they served me in Shanghai :D Stir fried crab with black bean sauce (or, alternatively, with ginger and scallions) is to die for. What I can't figure out, though, is WTF these guys were doing.
