Ever use the cracklings from schmalz

A friend used to use the cracklings when preparing a rice dish. The rice was very savory!

Crackings made from chicken, goose or duck fat was first devised for those residing in Valhalla. It is reliably reported that the god Odin was particularly fond of them.

Known in Yiddish as gribenes (pronounced greebeness) these are considered indispensible fare at all Jewish weddings as well as a great treat to be shared by families at sabbath meals. Best, of course, popped into the mouth with the fingers.

It was once said that a Jewish woman who did not know how to make gribenes would never find a husband. In more modern times it is more appropriate to say that a Jew of any age (male or female) who does not enjoy gribenes is either physically ill or mentally depraved.
