I have never been to a fish sale like this where refrigerated trucks come in loaded with fresh seafood...this was very fun. Whole salmon and halibut steaks were cut to the buyers specifications on a table outside of the truck. Then you entered the truck for shrimp, lobster, live lobster, scallops and a myriad of other white fish such as cod, snapper, etc. It was all beautifully displayed, and cut. Everything was very clean and people were instructed to us plastic grabber bags to take their fish from the open bins. The source was Pacific Seafood, I know of them because my daughter in law does huge fund raisers in Sacramento for her horse therapy program. She uses Pacific Seafood and it has been some of the best seafood I have every had. Anyway it was a fun experience not only to watch the wide eyed people coming for fresh wild caught fish, but for the massive under taking involved. I had never seen a whole halibut before...beautiful fish. There was no fishy smell at all, however a nice clean ocean smell that reminded me of my years living on the coast. I'm going back tomorrow for more fish, now that I am familiar with the process, it will be easier.
