No, not talking about eggs. This is a British show about a restaurant kitchen and the denizens therein.

Very entertaining, and done last year so not yet on commercial TV over here AFAIK, but available on Netflix up here.

Keep an eye out for it.

Cool! Hopefully it will show up on BBC America soon. Between Top Gear and Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares, I watch a lot of BBCA. Speaking of which, I've become quite the Gordon Ramsey fan because of that show. I see that some of the later episodes became more formulaic, but even then this unscripted show on which in each episode he tries to get a failing restaurant back on a successful path shows that there really is a good side, a very good side, to Ramsey's know-how. He's able to size situations and people uncommonly fast and though a lot of sparks fly when he tells people what's wrong with them, it's rather interesting to watch him play all the roles needed to make things happen for the better--the least of which might be that of restaurant consultant considering the marriage counseling, life coaching and management therapy these predicaments require him to dispense. A task he's more than up to, btw, and all of which he does with an impressive degree of passion--a big key to Ramsey's success is apparently his ability to focus. When he bores in on a task, a person, a problem, he's in 100%. And bouncing off the edge of his toes to boot. It's really quite entertaining.

I don't understand this. I find watching him unbearable. You see "passion," I see "flaming asshole."

Of course, this does somewhat compromise any review on my part, as so far, no one holding a gun has insisted I watch an entire episode...

I could not tolerate someone talking to me the way he addresses people; I suspect you could not either. This makes it painful to watch rather than entertaining for me.

Re what I saw of him on the one episode of Hell's Kitchen I watched long ago, you're right. That's why I never watched it again. But on this other show, I tend to sympathize with the impatience he has for criminally dirty kitchens, crap ingredients, dull menus and head chefs and owners who shrug and say "well, whuddareyou gonna do?" every time he points out a problem, as if none of this can be helped. It's not as if he's foisting himself on someone who didn't ask for it--and in most cases he only goes ballistic after he's failed to get their attention any other way. These people are always in denial about why they're failing.

Hell's Kitchen was all I saw, and I disliked him strongly enough to avoid him in the future.

I like Ramsay.

I dislike idiots (perhaps from having to deal with so many on a day to day basis), andit is they, not Ramsay that tempt me to lose my patience.

These bad business people with failing restaurants keep insisting that their crap food is good, the decor is nice, the service is fine....all of which can be answered by the question, "So why are you about to go tits up then?"

When people work with Ramsay and listen to him he can be very decent. When he deals with morons it often strikes me that he is being more patient (although also more verbally abusive) than I'd be.

BTW, in regard to cooking TV comedies, Netflix also has Chef! available - if you haven't seen Gareth Blackstock and you like cooking, you owe it to yourself to sample that show.

We're on the same page. In fact, he not only can be very decent, he can be quite compassionate and tender. Oh sure, there's the occasional situation/owner who is most likely going to go straight back to failure mode the minute Ramsey's out the door--and he admits to those. It's not like American-produced television, where even though it's a reality show he would be compelled to triumphantly conclude each episode with the unrealistic assertion that "There, it's all fixed".

Thread seems to have strayed from Whites TV programme :)

I saw the whole series, always watchable mix of humour and pathos. Some of the lines from the batty waitress were hilarious.

Lead character 'Roland White' with his wild curly hair is taken by some to refer to celebrity chef and (ex) enfante terrible Pierre Marco White
