Does she still have a TV show, or appear on a regular basis somewhere? I watched her for a long time, but have lost touch as to where she is.

She's on the Fine Living Network, Pairings with Andrea. She used to be on the Food Network but I can't find the show listings there any more.

I saw her on Iron Chef America as a judge the other night.

Personally, I was disappointed in her when she went corporate, turned up as a spokesperson for Target, stuff like that.

You can go to Facebook and Like or Friend her, and then you'll get constant messages from her about wine and food. Twitter also, if that's your wont.

I don't do the social networking sites...just a big waste of time, for me, at least. I will look for her on Fine Living.

Hey, at least I'm a consistent recovering hippie. I don't hold stuff like that in my head, Jeff, but in principle, AB placed himself (in my opinion) in an apparent-conflict-of-interest situation. Maybe the details will come back to me in the middle of the night ...

I think it had to do with the snarky, fat phobic comment he made below.

"...But I was on my most recent book tour I was shocked by the number of overweight families," he says. "People would come up to me and say, 'Oh, we love the Food Network.' Well, no (expletive); did you eat the TV? There's only four of you and you can't ride in an elevator together. I'll probably make fat people angry, but we need, as a culture, to be ashamed. It's not "... healthy."

That does not ring a bell. It had something to do with him being a pitchman for an ugly commercial food company.

Diamond Crystal, Salt 101 (know we talked about it, not sure why I didn't find in search).

Likewise. But no find. Strange, that: we don't delete things so there's no reason for it to not be here.

Alton Brown cunningly employs a cadre of highly skilled hackers, constantly trolling the web for any unfavorable comments, hacking into systems and deleting any threads that might reflect poorly on him. He's basically the Moriarty of the Food Network.

Well, in that case, we should see this post flying off the site soon, don't you think?

Well, this is interesting. I found a shadow of it in Google's cached copy of it on "BoardReader.com", a site that seems to archive the contents of lots of forums ... I'm not sure why or what their business model is - probably to earn from Google AdSense clicks without having to go to the trouble of producing original content :P - but as long as they link to us, I'm okay with it, I guess.

Anyway, here's the link - I hope this long Google archives link will survive cut-and-paste.

The thread is indeed very familiar ... and it is gone. You or David didn't quietly nuke it to protect me from myself, did you? ;)

Heck no, boss! And besides, what's the point? As soon as I'd clean up one mess you'd make another. :)

Good point! It's strange that a whole thread would disappear, though. Maybe AB really did hack it?

It's like socks in the dryer. Sometimes, threads go there, too.

( Nota bene: As a Rationalist, Scientist, and Computer Professional, this makes no sense whatsoever. )

Most likely is that the search engine in the BB software is less than perfect. I haven't played with this one's enough to know, but certainly the one at WD is flakey in the extreme (yeah, I know, different s/w: so shoot me!). Or Alton Brown's ninja haX0r hit squad is off scale good.

Ours is VERY flakey. Three letter searches (the whole reason for WTN and RCP) don't work anymore, for instance, though nothing was changed to make that so. It's not even possible for us to change that. I've been unable to find threads I know darned well should be there, too. Remember my Boxers or Briefs? poll in F & F? Gone! (Or at least, it didn't come when I called a few months back.)
